Making Everyday Count

Introduction:

This article is a bit different from the others in a few ways. One way being, I want this article to show more of who I am as a person. I’d like to share with you some of my thoughts like we were sitting and talking over a great cup of coffee!

There’s been many of times where I feel like I’m just going through the motions of life, not really feeling or living. I try my best, but in honesty, sometimes it feels like I don’t have anything more to give and if that’s my best, I surely must be doing something wrong! Right!??

I feel like we want to go into everything and anything with a pep in our step, but this sets up an expectation that could disappoint us later on.

My hope for this article is that we will push through these moments of discouragement and live a hope-filled life. Knowing there will be these waves of emotion or lack thereof, but to keep pursuing what is right.

Tired of it all…

When the work week seems long, or when the day goes by slowly, it’s hard to navigate the positive emotions. Clearing the mind seems impossible when tasks are racking up. The to-do list keeps growing longer, while the hours of the day stay the same. I believe that’s the moment I want to give up and hope tomorrow is different. Heck, in these moments I wish there was a big red button that had “restart” across it. Unfortunately, I have yet to discover one! Haha!

The craziest part about just “going through the motions” is that, it’s normal. I’m sharing my own thoughts here, but my bet is that you and the people around you have encountered this as well. It’s relieving to know others have shared this, in the way that it can bring comfort.

Growing, growing, growing!

If you are anything like me, I want to keep growing as an individual, flourish and thrive off of the elements around me.

The in’/s and out’/s of the daily life may seem mundane after a while. What helps me the most when things are looking dull around me, is simple changing it up! This could look as small or as big as you want it! Taking a weekend trip once a month to decompress, taking the scenic route to work, or finding a new community outside the typical such as a new coffee shop in town.

The point is, to keep life enjoyable! So whatever that may look like for you, I encourage you to try!

A few simple pleasures that have made me become better:

-Reading a new book (or one I have yet to read)

-Do something spontaneous, no planning… yikes!

-Catch up with someone and develop new friendships

-Go to the theater alone and make a connection…crazy, I know

Making life fun!!!

As an introvert/extrovert, I can hide in a crowd quite easily. Whenever I choose to branch out though, that’s when I feel most confident about myself. Not only do I gain deeper connections with others, but I generally have a great story to tell later on.

Going through life without any enjoyment is a choice you make. It’s as straightforward as that. Create an environment where you challenge yourself and continue to grow! I want that for you! I promise you won’t regret it!

When I took notice that what I do on the daily affects how I feel weekly, and monthly.. etc. and it gave me the motivation to be more proactive with my personal goals. While enjoying life has its ups and downs, it does matter what we do when we have nothing going on.

Make every day count, my friends!
